What is massage?
Massage therapy is a practice that dates back thousands of years. There are many types of massage. Pressing, rubbing, and moving your muscles and other soft tissues of the body primarily by using the hands and fingers are the most common.
Typically the intent is to relax the soft tissues, increase the delivery of blood and oxygen to the massaged areas warming them and decreasing pain.
What kind of massage do you do?
There are many different kinds of massage. Our Spa specializes in Swedish massage, (gentle) Deep Tissue, (more pressure) Trigger Point, (deep pressure applied to a "knotted point' for a short period of time) Myotherapy (stretching and seperating muscles) and Sport's Massage. (focus on an athlete's specific muscles) Pre- Natal massage is also very beneficial to Mom's-To-Be.
A massage session at Alternatives in Health Care's Detox Therapy Spa can range anywhere from 1/2 hour to 2 hours.
